2013 DJNF Interns Are on the Job… One hundred twenty summer interns sharpened their skills attending training in May and June provided by the Dow Jones News Fund and their media employers. It’s the biggest class of paid summer interns in five years.
The ranks rose with 40 digital interns hired by Patch.com, the hyperlocal news site, and trained by Dr. Pam Johnson at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green.The Fund offered training in its four core programs—sports editing, news editing, digital editing and business reporting—at Pennsylvania State, Temple, Arizona State and New York universities and the universities of Nebraska, Texas and Missouri. In all programs, emphasis was always on accuracy, professionalism and heightened skills. The interns are staying connected through social media (Twitter hashtag #PatchDJNF).
